CRIME AND PUNISHMENT IN DIGITAL MEDIA

Being a student of the career DEVELOPMENT OF GRAPHIC MEDIA DESIGN in the SERVICIO NACIONAL DE APRENDIZAJE, SENA, I can see how crime and punishment are portrayed through compelling digital illustrations in films, posters, news and social media. These images can shape the way society views justice, morality and the response to crime. This is why understanding its impact is crucial to creating responsible designs that inform rather than exaggerate news. Illustrated media often dramatizes crime and punishment in order to captivate audiences. Also, crime series normally uses obscure visual to depict underworlds. For example, a movie poster might use red hues in order to evoke danger, shaping in a subtle way the viewers perceptions. News media meanwhile uses courtroom infographics to simplify complex cases, but this can oversimplify justice.  On the other hand on social media platforms, such as X, viral images of crime scenes can prejudge individuals, raising ethical concerns about obje...

CRITICAL THINKING AND MEDIA LITERACY

As a visual graphic media student in SENA institution, I am and will be immersed in a world where images and videos shape narratives with stunning impact. In this era of  increasing digital content, critical thinking and media literacy are crucital for creating appealing visuals. These skills may help us in questioning the intention of a certain design , spot biases and make informed choices, ensuring we are active participants in the media we consume and create. Visual media, from instagram ads  to viral X posts, is a mixture of artistry and persuasion. Critical thinking makes us ask ourselves: Who´s behind the image or the post? or what´s their main goal with the post?.  For instance, a certain ad published on instagram, might use neon colors to inform about certain topic and certain niche but critical eye spots certain claims or manipulative framing. Media literacy gives us skills so we can verify sources and recognize design tactics and techniques, such as how to use...

Through this video, I wanted to show the real face of the city: the places we pass by every day, the corners filled with memories and the small but meaningful details that make Cúcuta feel comforting. I'm excited to share a completed activity that allowed me to excel both my design and communication skills: my very own english program brochure! This project challenged me to improve the essence of my "Development of visual graphic media" career, using all the research and concepts I've gathered. I crafted this brochure using Canva , aiming for a creative and informative piece. Inside, you'll find my personal details, an introductory message, core information about the program, and how my own interests align with this fascinating field.
